Esports Union [remote]

Esports Union Associate Director (resume needed)

Descriptions:

The Associate Director works with the ESU Director on all aspects of their job, with the overarching plan for the Associate to take the Director’s place upon the Director’s graduation OR with administrative/faculty approval/support, and if the AD wishes to, evolve into a full-time position post-graduation.

They Will:

  • Lead key ESU projects and teams under the overarching ESU umbrella, which is focused on club and varsity activity around League of Legends, Overwatch, Hearthstone and Smash Bros Ultimate (with more games coming online next school year)
  • Develop and define the ESU voice and brand presence on campus, with emphasis on empowering creative leads in each sport’s group to ensure commitment to ESU values
  • Coordinate between different club and varsity entities to ensure best practice sharing and efficient execution.
  • Work with campus organizations and facilitate connecting them with individual sports’ staff members
  • Elevate issues that present themselves within the organization to the director/faculty
  • Outreach, vet, and interview on all staff hires for Club or Varsity teams, and coordinate interviews with faculty advisors

Esports Union Technical Manager (resume needed)

Descriptions:

The Technical Manager works with the Technical Director to plan and execute the technological aspect of events. Working closely with students, players, the ESU Events Director, and others, they are responsible for developing flexible and quality technical solutions for events to best accommodate the scope and function. The Technical Manager will be responsible for communications with campus departments to coordinate needs, installations and activations for events.

They Will:

  • Coordinate and work with campus departments to secure WIFI, Ethernet, Power, Viewing Screens, and other event technical needs to seamlessly run events
  • Manage on-site technical troubleshooting for games to optimize performance
  • Scout and develop spaces to host new events to best fit our objectives
  • Set up and tear down on event spaces for ESU Technical assets
  • Make decisive calls when things go wrong at the event and rewrite plans on the spot to maintain a quality event
  • Engage with Event Coordinators to plan events

Esports Union Campus Outreach Manager (resume needed)

Descriptions:

As the Campus Outreach Manager behind USC Esports Union, the ideal candidate will coordinate with our social media/content teams to connect with and develop a clear but effective message to on-campus departments, such as Viterbi, Marshall, Annenberg, Student Affairs, USC Club Organization, Daily Trojan, and others with the overarching goal to work with those organizations to communicate our activities with their student communities. From engaging with departments and organizations to flyer distribution across campus and surrounding the school, the Campus Outreach Manager leads efforts in ensuring ESU’s messages are broadly disseminated across as much of the student body as possible.

They Will:

  • Foster and develop healthy relationships with on-campus departments, organizations, and potential partners to improve our presence around our core areas of focus
  • Develop best practices for flyer distribution on and around campus with respect to University policies and guidelines as well as leverage the resources the above-mentioned partner organizations can leverage.
  • Work in tandem with Events and Art teams to design and communicate Esports news/opportunities throughout campus
  • Be the point of contact for on-campus interest, including, but not limited to volunteers, staff, or faculty that wish to learn more about Esports Union or esports in general
  • Participate in the event planning pipeline with focus on announcement deadlines for submission to ensure early and consistent awareness-driving for events.

Esports Union Live-Event/Streaming Production Manager (resume needed)

Descriptions:

Create the Esports stream and show for the student body at USC! The production manager will assemble a production team to work alongside Technical and Event teams to structure the program for our campus-wide activations. During events, the production team will be operating the broadcast to the audience as well as recording both video, audio, and audience videography for post-processing. The production manager will be responsible for assigning and managing team roles during events to create an industry-grade show, matching USC production values.

They Will:

  • Recruit, vet, and develop a production team through the outreach support of ESU staff members.
  • Provide educational training for production members to operate technical assets during live-event productions.
  • Design a theme for ESU’s live-events presence and identify areas for improvement during revisions with ESU Staff/Faculty
  • Work with artist team to develop theme assets and arrange theme into event space.
  • Be the point of contact for all production guests–including, but not limited to, casters, professional players, and guests of USC
  • Participate in the discussion for building online KPIs and presence through visual materials

Esports Union Sponsorships Associate (resume needed)

Descriptions:

Supporting the backbone of USC Esports Union initiatives, the Sponsorship Associate will cultivate relationships with appropriate partners based on due diligence efforts and achieve our goals to fund ESU’s key initiatives. They work under the Sponsorships Manager to negotiate and be part of the execution of partnership deals.

They Will:

  • Participate in networking and communicating the value USC Esports with partners
  • Coordinate with the Operations staff to run branded activations at events and online
  • Cold call, conduct presentations and perform outreach to endemic and non-endemic brands
  • Identify and provide opportunities for partners that no other collegiate esports program offers
  • Secure sponsorship funding to support varsity operations and larger club activities, ongoing marketing, etc

League of Legends Varsity Analyst (resume needed)

Descriptions:

Working alongside our League of Legends Head Coach, the Analyst will help individual players by providing feedback, offer the coach a second opinion, work with players on a smaller scale practice, and facilitate player improvement/experience on the USC Varsity team. The Analyst will work alongside the Head Coach during practice to provide players with milestone goals for practice each week as they strive to become the best players in their game. The ideal candidate is respectful of the training space, interested in high-quality gameplay, and proficient at transparent communication with the players.

They Will:

  • Establish and adapt player practice goals as players improve across scrim performances during the collegiate education experience
  • Be familiar with the game and meta, including but not limited to champions, items, and pathing.
  • Provide players with reminders about weekly performance goals set by the Head Coach
  • Attend practice and team building sessions as a participant to better get to know the team
  • Assist players with smaller training sessions when required to best facilitate the education of the game

SC Overwatch Club President (resume needed)

Descriptions:

Leader of the club, the President is the frontrunner of the social planning and outreach efforts supporting the student organization at USC. Working with the ESU Staff, the President leads the charge in driving adoption and social engagement in the game as far and wide across campus as possible. The overarching mission is to create an inviting, non threatening, and engaging social framework for students (and eventually alumni) to learn, play, and socially compete in the game. They will also work with ESU operations and club team leaders to develop shared objectives and provide leadership and direction to the team to meet them.

They Will:

  • Draft, finalize, and communicate objectives and strategies for the specific esport you’re responsible for, to appropriate parties
  • Serve as joint liaison with faculty and senior level execs at publishers, developers, attending top-to-top and strategic planning meetings whenever appropriate
  • Maintain up to date with your esport’s pro scene and be the esport publisher’s point of contact for representation at events and partnership opportunities
  • Work with the Team Manager to supply the varsity team the resources and support necessary to achieve objectives set for them
  • Represent the varsity and social teams at meetings and provide general updates and friction points to resolve immediately

SC Overwatch Club Vice President (resume needed)

Descriptions:

Support the President in performing their duties. Represent the President if they are unavailable, providing leadership and guidance to the social team. Report problems as they arise and escalating issues as appropriate.

They Will:

  • Perform duties tasked by the President
  • Work with your esport’s Events Coordinator to plan and execute sport-specific events tailored to fans of League.
  • Work with the Secretary to understand and easily navigate USC’s different departments when paperwork is required
  • Communicate and understand objectives set by the Operations staff.

SC Overwatch Club Events Coordinator (resume needed)

Descriptions:

As the lead voice representing the needs of USC students interested in the game, the Events Coordinator creates proposals and budgets for events and—for larger multi-sport events (Conquest, etc.) represents the game and finds/schedules staff to support their component of the function.

They Will:

  • Create, plan, staff, and execute regular social events to engage the general USC student body in recreational/intramural play
  • Draft and present proposals/budgets to the President for esport specific events
  • Create detailed floor plans to make setup easy for vendors plan for contingencies early, and coordinate—as needed—with facilities, campus services, fire, and safety
  • Schedule staff for events and work with Social Media and Art manager to create assets to support it, complying with local labor laws
  • Work with USC admin/faculty if/as needed to secure space and plan
  • Lead the execution and manage staff onsite – set up, manage, and break down
  • Set and track to goals and objectives for the event
  • Lead a post-mortem within the club to recap what worked/didn’t to hone in on best practices

SC Overwatch Club Social Media Coordinator (resume needed)

Descriptions:

The Social Media Coordinator leads the social media efforts for the club, targeting off-and on-campus audiences to drive awareness of activities. They are working with vendors that the ESU Staff has sourced to develop game-specific assets and deploying them within an effective social media plan.

They Will:

  • Support and drive awareness with a comprehensive social media plan
  • Develop an amplification plan for any PR activities
  • Coordinate with Varsity Team’s Social Media and Central Social Media Manager to ensure assets are not over-scheduled and spread out for maximum impact
  • Work with the ESU Staff to develop content that is optimized for each social media platform
  • Track analytics and generate reports that measure performance
