The Distance
The Distance is a 2-player cooperative puzzle platformer designed for geographically separated players. It tells a story of a broken relationship in a dual-perspective and introduces innovative multiplayer interactions to enhance the players’ emotional connection with one another despite the distance.
The Distance is Xian Lu's thesis project. In the time she has been away from her family and boyfriend since 2015, studying abroad in the U.S, she has learnt that nothing tests a relationship more than distance and decided to create a meaningful shared game experience for geographically separated players. Development started in 2017. With the help of other team members, the project is progressing smoothly. A demo of first three levels is expected to complete by May 2018 and the team might continue to work on it after Xian’s graduation.
